Greek MERS Patient Still in Critical Condition

mers
The Greek healthcare worker who contracted MERS (Middle East respiratory Syndrome) is still in critical condition, the doctors said. The illness proves to be fatal in one-third of the infection cases and there is no known treatments for the MERS virus at present.
There are most likely no other people exposed to the virus, since the man was placed in an isolation chamber right after his diagnosis. He is now hospitalized in Sotiria Hospital in Athens and his doctors claim he is in need of intensive care despite the slight improvement he has shown the past few days.
The virus is similar to the one that causes Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and was detected for the first time in Saudi Arabia in 2012. Since then dozens of people have been infected and died there, yet no measures to implement travel restriction have been taken by Saudi Arabian authorities.
