Terrorist Previously Caught by Greek Police, Found in France

policeFrench police have arrested a 23-year-old man who appears to have been organizing a major terrorist attack against France. According to Greek police the terrorist had previously been found and checked by the Greek Anti-Terrorist Unit, who immediately sent all information relevant to the attack to the French prosecuting authorities.

Specifically, the 23-year-old man, who was a jihadist, had previously acted as a terrorist within French territory and at the moment of his arrest was organizing a major attack.

According to the Greek Police, he was first detected on January 3 in Orestiada, Northern Greece and was examined by the Special Violent Crime Squad (Anti-Terrorist Unit), for any terrorist activity. However, the investigation revealed no evidence of the man’s involvement in any criminal activity in Greece, and there was no international warrant for his arrest, so Greek police were forced to let him go.

Any other information obtained and any items deemed usable for further investigation within the International Police Cooperation, were provided directly to the French prosecuting authorities by the Greek Police Special Violent Crime Squad, to evaluate and investigate. The overall contribution of Greek Police played a key role in identifying and apprehending the 23-year-old terrorist.
