The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) hosted its 39th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner on March 8, 2014, at The Capital Hilton, Washington, D.C.

At the black tie affair AHI honored Jerry Couvaras, President & Chief Executive Officer, Atlanta Bread; International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), a nonprofit organization that offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide; Timothy J. Maniatis, Community Leader and Association Executive, and
Paulette Poulos, Executive Director, Leadership 100.

Larry Michael, the “Voice of the Redskins” and previous AHI honoree, was the evening’s emcee.

“We are excited about the program of our annual awards dinner,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said.

“All of our honorees have excelled in their respective professions or as an institution. It feels great to celebrate their achievements with the community.”

As part of the weekend’s festivities, major benefactors and supporters received an invitation to a wine-tasting reception featuring Greek wine producers on March 7, 2014, at the magnificent Hall of Flags at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

AHI also hosted a breakfast and policy briefing on Saturday, March 8, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Capital Hilton.

The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek American public policy center and think tank that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
