The International Festival Sarajevo, Sarajevo Winter is a traditional cultural and artistic event, which has been taking place in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1984. The 30th Sarajevo Winter 2014 will be held under the motto “Peace, Art, Freedom” from February 21 to 25. This year’s guest of honor will be Greece.
Sarajevo winter festival is the meeting place for artists and citizens from all over the world. It is a highly prestigious festival that attracts worldwide attention.
The event is organized by the International Peace Center Sarajevo, which is also a member of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) and the European Festival Association (EFA). The festival is held under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, European Union, UNESCO, the Chairman of the Presidency and Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo Canton, Sarajevo City and the municipality of Stari Grad.
Greece’s participation in the festival is one of the initiatives that the Greek Minister of Culture and Sport has taken in order to support the presence of Greek artists abroad. In Sarajevo Winter 2012, Greece’s participation title was Contemporary Greek theater: new visions. The Greek participants presented all the aspects of Greek theater as it is today.
Last year’s festival was held under the motto “The art of Touch.” Greece won the award of best participation with the interactive musical theater named “The list project.”
