The Greek-American actor and producer is getting together with IDW Entertainment, a newly formed division of IDW Publishing (which houses the comic), to develop the scripted series. Per Deadline, IDW will fund the project and “oversee packaging and development.” Once the series is developed, the plan is to shop it around to networks with a direct-to-series order.
The five-issue comic, created in 2010 by Chiklis, Marc Andreyko and Anny Simon Beck, focuses on Greek gods who fight for the future of mankind after returning to a dark and ruined Earth.
Chiklis, best known for his roles on “The Commish” and “The Shield,” starred in the “Fantastic Four” films as The Thing. No word yet on whether Chiklis will star in the “Pantheon” series, although his look seems to be the inspiration behind Zeus in the comic book.
