“Love without borders” is the front page of the newspaper Halkin Sesi with a photo from the wedding of Greek-Cypriot Elena and Turkish-Cypriot Serkan. The wedding took place at the hotel Merit in North Nicosia.
According to the article, they met each other when Elena went to North Nicosia and Serkan was working as a taxi-driver. Their love won the approval of both their families. The hotel Merit wanted to do something special for the couple and organized the wedding ceremony and the reception. At the reception the band Café Aman was there to entertain the guests. The band consists of Turkish and Greek musicians who sang in both languages.
The Halkin Sesin paper wrote that love signs and now it’s the turn of the two leaders’ to sign. In the past we have seen weddings between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots. The article didn’t give any details on where the newlywed couple will live or any other personal information.
