Greek Communists Sell TV, Radio Stations

KKEGreece’s Communist Party (KKE) has sold its 902 radio and television stations to a private investor,  a Capitalist maneuver, with the transfer expected to be completed by the end of August.
The deal for sale of the two broadcasters foresees the firing of all 48 members of staff, while management is currently in talks with the workers to request that they accept a 40 percent pay cut if they want to return. Otherwise, they will be let go.
KKE opposed the firing of a single public worker as the government is proceeding to put 40,000 of them into a so-called mobility scheme in which they will get 75 percent of their already-reduced pay and fired if another position can’t be found for them within eight months.
The 902 station staff will be transferred to two other businesses owned by KKE before the are made fired, although four employees will be kept on to run the party’s website, www.902.gr, local media reported.
