Five Top Countries Importing Greek Products

greekA study conducted by the Panhellenic Exporters’ Association (PSE) and the Center for Export Research Studies revealed that five developed countries top the list of countries to where the most Greek products are exported.
In 1988, the top five markets (Germany, Italy, France, UK and the USA) absorbed 64% of Greek exports (excluding petroleum), while last year Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Turkey covered only a rate of 38%.
The second major development is the EU accession of both Bulgaria and Cyprus, which, from 2007 onwards, are in the 3rd and 4th place. In the case of these two countries, the activation of Greek companies and subsidiary businesses play an important role.
Turkey ranked in the top five after 2012. In fact, including oil, the neighboring country is now the No. 1 market for Greek products for the whole 2012 and the first quarter of 2013. It is also noteworthy that Gibraltar has been in the fourth place since the beginning of the year, displacing Cyprus from the list.
