Consulate of Belgium Inaugurated in Ioannina

proxenio velgiouThe Ambassador of Belgium, Marc Van Den Reeck, is a real friend and ally of Greeceā€™s requests and claims abroad.
Shortly after a visit to Epirus, Greece, the ambassador launched the necessary procedures in order to open the Consulate of Belgium in Ioannina, the capital and largest city of Epirus.
The consulate was inaugurated on June 26 in Ioannina and it functions at 180 Anexartisias Street. The official opening was held in the presence of the Ambassador of Belgium, of the Regional Governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kachrimanis, and of several Greek and Belgian citizens.
ā€œEurope depends on us,ā€ was the characteristic sentence that Papageorgiou said right after his swearing as Consul of Belgium.
ā€œFor us, Greece is something more than banks and bonds. It is not only Greece that is facing a crisis, but it is a European matter,ā€ Van Den Reeck noted.
ā€œBelgium supports Greece by providing know-how concerning reforms and the countryā€™s reorganization. Greek exports to Belgium were increased by 17 percent in 2013, while businesses of Belgian interests function in Greece, which employ 14,000 employees,ā€ he explained.
ā€œOur attitude towards Greece is not a matter of help, but a matter of solidarity,ā€ the Ambassador of Belgium pointed out.
