EA033985BB58F5CE3680BE2DED9A6CEBIn the effort to combat tax evasion, the Ministry of Finance is preparing a new draft for a bill that will enforce the role of tax services, by giving them greater power.
The bill draft will soon be finalized to be submitted in Parliament. As tovima reported, this bill provides tax officials, auditors and prosecutors with instant access to bank accounts, loan and credit card details in order to detect tax evaders.
Among the provisions of the bill is the exemption from having to declare interest fees from bank savings, provided the sum does not exceed 250 euros. The new bill also places stricter requirements to qualify for child benefits.
The cost of tax evasion in Greece is estimated to amount to six million euros, while the cost of revenue for the State is about 20 billion euros.
