Piraeus Lawyers VP Resvanis Kills Self

resbanis_360x270The Vice-President of the Piraeus Lawyers Association Constantinos Resvanis jumped to his death from the fifth floor of his office building on April 30, officials said, adding that he was facing severe financial problems and had attempted suicide in December last year.
Resvanis, who was 55, was born in Piraeus. He was accredited to appear before the Supreme Court and the Council of State. He was graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens and pursued his law studies at the University of Paris (PARIS VIII-Vincennes) while studying at the same time Political Economy and Sociology there.
He had held positions at the association since 1999, being repeatedly re-elected. In 2003 he is assigned to an unpaid position as a member of the Committee established by the Minister of Justice, in order to find money to operate the Distributive Account for the financial support of Young Lawyers.
In 2005, re-elected in the Law Association, he served as a General Secretary of the Association. In September 2009 he accepted a proposal from PASOK to participate in elections for the Socialist party representing Piraeus and islands. In 2011, he was again chosen to be the association’s vice-president.
