Queen Sofia Gets Apology From Affair Agency

sc_729_sofia-20130418092552954093-620x349An online dating agency that encourages married people to cheat on their spouses and have affairs has apologized to the 74-year-old Greek-born Queen Sofia of Spain for having used her photograph in a series of advertisements last year, mocking her husband’s, King Juan Carlos, rumored indiscretions.

Queen Sofia took legal action against the the US-based dating agency Ashley Madison for “damage to her honor and dignity,” the UK’s Telegraph reported.

The advertisements showed a doctored image of the smiling queen draped around the bare shoulders of a much younger man, beneath the slogan in Spanish: “You no longer have to spend the night alone.”

It was first published first in February 2012 and then again last October, referring apparently to widespread rumors that King Juan Carlos had numerous extramarital affairs during their 50-year marriage.

Queen Sofia hired a private lawyer to press charges against the online company but never asked for a partial or full refund only for a public apology and guarantee that it would not happen again. The company agreed.
