Gazi, name of the famous neighborhood of Athens which surrounds the old Athens gasworks close to the Acropolis, is moving to Melbourne. The award-winning Greek chef George Kalomparis, has named his new restaurant Gazi. Kalomparis is closing part of his top restaurant The Press Club, and in its place is opening Gazi, which he believes will be the best Greek restaurant worldwide.
The distinguished chef is promoting the Greek cuisine, Greek products, Greece and Cyprus both in his restaurant and as a judge on the TV show Master Chef. The show is screened not only in Australia but also in 35 countries around the world.
The Greek chef owns seven restaurants in Melbourne and one more in Mykonos. His restaurants employ 350 people, only 12 of whom are Greeks.
