Greek PM Samaras Sends Condolence Letter to Russian PM Medvedev and President Putin

Our Greek PM Antonis Samaras sent condolence letters to Russian President Vladimir Putin and PM Dmitry Medvedev following the tragic events in the region of Krasnodar, Southern Russia.
“To my great sorrow, I was informed of the tragic events in the region of Krasnodar in Southern Russia, where floods caused the loss of so many people’s lives and extensive damages. On behalf of the Greek government and the Greek people, I would like to express my condolences to the victims’ families. All Greeks share their affliction and the drama of the thousands of injured of our friends, the Russian people,” says PM Samaras in his letters to the Russian leaders.
Russian Government Admits Mistakes
The Kremlin on Monday declared a day of mourning after the worst flooding in the country’s recent history. The Russian government admitted that mistakes had been made in its handling of flash floods in which more than 170 people were killed.
”Local leaders and government agencies made mistakes,” said Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov. Residents affected by flooding, which began on Friday, had not been given sufficient warning, he said, according to the news agency Interfax.
