Two Robbers Broke Into House of Coach of PAOK FC- Both Arrested After Crossfire and Injuries

On Thursday, June 28th  at about 2 o’clock at midday, two robbers broke into George Donis’ house, coach of Greek football team PAOK FC. After a Hollywood-like pursuit, police officers arrested the two thieves later in the afternoon.
More specifically, the two men of Albanian descent broke into Donis’ house at midday, while the coach was in the northern city of Thessaloniki. Unfortunately, Donis’ parents-in-law and his children were at the house. When the older child heard the noise, he reacted immediately and called a neighboring policeman since this was not the first time the house had experienced burglary.
During the break in, the two men stuffed the family’s money and jewelry in their pockets, along with guns and knifes.
Upon the arrival of the police, the two robbers took Donis’ father-in-law hostage until they  were able to make their get away in their car. In the meantime, they were shooting at the police officers and as a result, one policeman and one of the thieves were injured.
At about 4 o’clock, police detected one of them in a nearby area. The other escaped once more but fortunately, not for long. Less than an hour later, they arrested him too and transferred him to Evangelismos Hospital to treat injuries on both his hands.
