Posidonia Shipping Exhibition 2012 to be Held in Athens

The Posidonia Shipping Exhibition is expected to provide Athens with almost 50 million euros, with 17,000 people from 90 different countries, of which 10,000 belong to high-paid classes.
Posidonia is the world’s biggest shipping exhibition and will take place in Athens June 4-8. Among the attendants are ship owners and professionals of every kind of the shipping and telecommunication sectors.
The five-day Exhibition will take place at the Metropolitan Expo Center. Occasioned by the annual exhibition, the people in charge for it have also organized more than 20 conferences and seminars on shipping and its future prospects. Moreover, Posidonia has announced ship soccer and gold tournaments on June 3.
Almost 1,680 exhibitors will take part in the event from all over the world. China could be described as the most “active” among them, which will participate with 280 stands, covering every aspect of shipping services.
It is estimated that the 10,000 visitors will spend about 500 euros per day, just for their accommodation (in full, 2,000 euros per person for the 5 days), which means that hotels of Athens will receive 20 million euros, not including expenses for transportation, entertainment, purchases or even construction of the company’s stands at the Expo Center. Many of them will stay more days in Greece for holidays on the Greek islands.
