40-Year-Old Man Commits Double Homicide in Evia

This morning, May 28, a 40-year-old man murdered two of his neighbors in Lefkanti, Evia.
The suspect killed a 54-year old man and his 25-year-old son, who lived right next door to him. The 40-year-old took a shotgun, approached his neighboring residence and murdered the two men cold-blooded as they were sitting on their balcony.
According to the data collected by the authorities the man was divorced, unemployed and suffered from severe psychological problems. Citizens of Lefkanti reported he had also been institutionalized in the past, as he was considered a threat.
The eye-witnesses called the police who arrived at the scene only to find the older man dead and his son severely wounded.
The 54-year old victim had been shot in the chest while his son had a bullet wound in the back, indicating he tried to escape his death. The unlucky son passed away during his transfer to the nearest hospital (General Chalkida Hospital).
The suspect was immediately arrested and confessed his crimes to the police. The investigation showed that the man illegally possessed the shotgun, while the two used cartridges were found in his house.
He will be taken to the Prosecutor on charges of intended double homicide, illegal gun possession and gun use.
The motive and the reason for the crime remain unknown.
