Omiros College Graduation Celebrated in Melbourne

Omiros College in Melbourne’s Brunswick area celebrated the success of their VCE graduates last week in a glorious event at the Park Hyatt Melbourne. The proud graduates’ family members and many respected community representatives attended the event, according to a neoskosmos.com article.

Among those present to congratulate the young students was Leonidas Vlahakis, co-chair of the Antipodes Festival and an Omiros alumni, who delivered the keynote speech, shared his personal experiences after his graduation and encouraged students to continue to use the Greek language in every opportunity in life.

Messages were given by the Consul for Educational Affairs, Vasillios Gogas, who congratulated the graduates for including the Greek language in their VCE studies, enhancing their knowledge of the language and understanding of the Greek culture.

Graduate Marianna Drapaniotis took the stage on behalf of the rest of the students that appeared ready to take on the world. Speaking in Greek, she shared some very memorable moments of her own journey at the Greek school and thanked the teachers for their support and guidance through the years. She also expressed her own gratitude to her parents for encouraging her to use the Greek language not only at school, but also at home.

Marianna was one of a few students who received an Award of Excellence, along with her peers Athanasia Outsikas, Zapheria Stamboulidis, Christos Papadopoulos, and Marina Fermanis.
