Crete Works With British Travel Agency For Additional Tourist Promotion

The District of Crete and the Heraklion Port Authority were in Malta at the annual conference of the Advantage Travel Centers, after receiving Willie Stewart’s invitation and as a result of a month-long coordination with the CEO of the Heraklion Port Authority.

Advantage: Specialists in Travel, the UK’s largest group of independent specialist travel agents with a network of over 800 outlets across the country and an annual combined group turnover in excess of £3 billion, discussed collaboration proposals and ways of promoting the island as a tourist destination with the District of Crete and the Port Authority.

A coordinated effort was agreed for the immediate advertising of Crete at 850 agencies of the firm by offering special brochures and digital material (video, photographs of the island’s landscapes), which will be given to the agencies’ websites for the promotion of Crete. These efforts cost virtually nothing but everyone will benefit from the agreement. Crete will eventually have more visitors and Advantage Travel Centers will have more revenue.

The Deputy District Governor officially invited Advantage to hold their next 2014 conference on the island of Crete.
