The Canadian website ‘privateislandsonline.com’ offers small Greek islands for sale. The online advertisement offers, for €150,000,000, the sale of the famous small island of Patroklos, saying: “The island can be reached by road both via the Athina-Sounion coast road and via Attiki Avenue – Lavrio Avenue. This moment it is considered the most exploitable and developable area of Ellas and especially Athina.With respect to the water supply, since Lavrio is connected to the Mornos water system and since this central pipe runs parallel to the Athens-Sounion road and is only about 1,500 meters from the island, it is possible to supply the island with water from the EYDAP network and the costs would be relatively small”.
Eminent people such as Donatella Versace, represntatives of an Israeli company, as well as representatives of an investment fund of United Arab Emirates have shown interest in purchasing the small Greek island of Patroklos up until now.
Major purpose of all the above mentioned potential investors was the construction of luxury hotels, spa installations, a golf course and a casino.
Patroklos’ property belongs to the Giatrakos family, while many investments in the island have been hindered because part of the island has been declared an archaelogical place.
Several international websites offered Greek private islands for sale in the past, with prices starting from €1,500,000. The Canadian website promotes the sale of private Greek islands, saying: “Greek islands are the ultimate status symbol, evoking images of sunglass sporting shipping magnates sipping champagne on the deck of enormous yachts. In reality, Greek islands are relatively affordable, costing as little as two million dollars – less than a ski chalet in Aspen or a walk up on the Upper East side”.
In addition to Patroklos island, the list of ‘Greek Islands for Sale’ includes: Kardiotissa Island, Nafsika Island, St. Thomas, St. Athanasios Island, Lihnari Peninsula, Little Amorgos Island and the Modi Island.
