Vice President of Hellenic Parliament Meets with Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece

Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament and President of the Committee on European Affairs Mrs. Rodoula Zisi met with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov.
The two officials discussed matters concerning the strong friendship relations developed between the two countries over the years.
Particular emphasis was placed on culture issues, the Greek and Ukrainian communities in Ukraine and Greece respectively, as well as on strictly financial and commercial issues, such as energy, investments and tourism.
“There is always enough space to further improve and deepen bilateral relations between our countries” said Mrs. Zisi.
Moreover, Mrs. Zisi repeated the established positive and supportive thesis of Greece towards the EU accession prospective of Ukraine. The Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament referred to the strong historical bonds connecting Greece and Ukraine through the longtime presence of the Greek element in the country, and especially in the construction of historical cities, such as Odessa.
On his behalf, the Ukrainian Ambassador thanked Mrs. Zisi for the warm welcoming and informed her that good relations of his country towards the EU remain the top priority of his country’s foreign policy.
Mr. Shkurov expressed his support towards the recession-hit people of Greece and expressed his hopes for Greece to get back on a prosperity track. He also congratulated Mrs. Zisi on her overall work as the President of the Committee on European Affairs in the COSACs and other international parliamentary diplomacy fora and asked for more initiatives of cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
