The Greek Embassy in Kazakhstan organized a Greek-Kazakh music event on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan.
With the initiative of the Greek charge d’ affaires Mr. Ioannis-Foivos Georgakakis and under the auspices of the Kazakh Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Culture the event was held on November 16, in Astana, the capital city of the country.
Greece was represented in the celebrating event by prominent Greek singer Kalliope Vetta, who has performed internationally recognized songs of Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Yiannis K. ioannou, etc., and pianist Yiannis Ioannou, while on behalf of Kazakhstan 4 artists from the National Opera and Ballet Theater Baiseitova took part in the celebrations.
The Greek participation in the 20th anniversary celebrations was big and very important, since the two countries share excellent bilateral relations, especially since 2009-2010 when the two countries exchanged one with another the rotating presidency of OSCE.
