Law Regarding Greek Higher Education to Be Voted on

Mutual agreement has been reached between the two biggest political parties PASOK and ND regarding the bill for Greek higher education, though deputies of the two have have asked for reforms to be made to the bill before voting for its approval.
Some changes to the current status have already been incorporated into the bill.  Minister of Education Diamantopoulou said first of all that asylum will no longer exist, as this institution has been abused during previous years. In addition, university Boards of Trustees will vote from among two or three candidates for the position of Rector of the university after the post has been opened for international competition.  Diamantopoulou rejected a proposal of ND regarding a 5% participation of students in the selection of rectors.
The extreme right political party LAOS will also participate in the vote for the new law.
