Historical Churches of Athens Renovated

According to an article in the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini”, two of the most historical churches of Athens, the church of Agios Konstantinos across from the National Theatre in Omonoia, and the catholic church of Agios Dionysios on Panepitimiou Street, will soon be renovated.
The earthquake that hit Athens in 1999 caused damages to these two churches. The works at Agios Konstantinos have already begun and the project has a budget of 3.440.000 euro.
This neoclassic church was built by the famous architect Lysandros Kaftantzoglu in 1905 and his renovation will contribute to the improvement of the image of Omonoia, since over the past years the court of the church has often been used to shelter the homeless and drug users.
