Libyan Leader Thanks Greece for Humanitarian Aid

Since the very first moments of the Libyan crisis, Greek doctors and a mobile medical unit were mobilized for health care for the civil war victims as close as possible to the hot zone of the battlefield.
The Greek medical team of Humanitarian AID mission in Benghazi and the fully equipped mobile unit were sent on call at the biggest Libyan hospital of the war zone for the treatment and evacuation of the wounded and civil war patients since late May.
The medical mission that was provided from the Hellenic Centers of Disease Control of the Greek Ministry of Health through the Hellenic AID of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted the first epidemiological surveillance for any possible contagious diseases that could threat the Western world after the African countries’ revolution.
At Ajdabiya Hospital, just 30 km. from the battlefield and 160 km. west from Benghazi, the new Libyan President was present during the visit by the Greek medical team that was sent to Benghazi, as part of the humanitarian assistance initiative by the Greek government to the Libyan people.
Ajdabiya Hospital is the centre of reference for the Civil War victims and patients, where the emergency medical operations take place and where wounded and patients from the battlefield are evacuated to the rest hospitals of Benghazi.
The Greek Medical Mission, from the very first days of its presence in Benghazi, visited the Ajdabiya Hospital through the UN/WHO health organizations to offer any possible medical services and set the medical team and mobile unit on call for any event of critical huge numbers of emergency admissions of war victims to the Libyan hospitals and the need of treatment and transfers to the rest of the public heatlh facilities to other Libyan hospitals.
President Moustafa Abd Al Jaleal, ex-Minister of Justice of the Gadhafi Government and President of the National Libyan Transitional Council was present and thanked personally one by one, the team of the Greek Medical Humanitrarian Aid Mission.
The Greek Medical Humanitarian Aid Mission stated: “It’s an honor to meet you Mr President . We are the medical team of the Greek Humanitarian Aid Mission.”
Moustafa Abd Al Jaleal stated: “We are glad that the Greek medical team is here and very grateful to the Greeks who stand by the Libyan people. Honestly, we thank you very much”.
The Libyans, medical staff and civilians that were present at the hospital praised the Greek team by chanting:
“Greek Unan ! Allah is seeing!….” and everyone considered this meeting a blessing.
