''July 2011 Diaspora Month'' Events Held in Athens & Rethymnon

A series of activities within the framework of “Greek-Speaking Primary and Secondary Intercultural Education in the Diaspora”, will be held in Rethymnon and Athens, over the month of July, under the title “July 2011 Diaspora Month”.
The program is funded by the NSRF programe, the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Education, implemented by the Center for Intercultural and Immigration Studies (E.DIA.M.ME.), Department of Primary Education, University of Crete.
A seminar is already being held since the 2nd of July for the purpose of training 30 Greek Diaspora teachers in Rethymno, which will be concluded on July 17th. Thirty five educators – representatives from schools and Greek language departments, which will be launched in the coming school year as pilot e-Learning Schools, will be taking part in this month’s activities.
Particular attention is paid to the two-day conference on “e-Learning in the Greek Diaspora” and the establishment of a School Network for e-Learning. The conference which will be held between the 8th and 9th of July, will be attended by scientists from Greece and the Diaspora.
The annual meeting of the Project’s Team will be held in Rethymnon on the 11th and 12th of July.
Meanwhile, from June 26th until the 9th of July, a training seminar is also being held in Thessaloniki for 20 Greek Diaspora teachers from Black Sea Countries, while a training seminar is also going to be held in Athens for detached educators, until the end of July.
