The “Association of American Philhellenes 1810-1840” met with representatives of the U.S. Congress and the President of Congress John Bener, to discuss the issue of the proclamation of April 19th, as the Official National Day of Philhellenes Americans.The team consisted of the President of the Association, Panagiotis Nikolopoulos and his wife Georgia, lawyer Sylvia Sompreira, Dr. Anthony Ferguson and University Professor Eustatius Bourodimos.
Mr. Nikolopoulos expressed his optimism regarding the U.S. Congress passing a law proclaiming the National Day of American Philhellenes, as there is rich material with historical evidence that proves the involvement of Americal Philehellenes in the Greek
Revolution of 1821.
