“Greek Ethnic Schools in Australia in the Late 1990s: Selected Case Studies” Presentation

The book by Eugenia Arvaniti titled “Greek Ethnic Schools in Australia in the Late 1990s: Selected Case Studies” illuminated one of the most interesting cases of Greek schools of the Diaspora, through systematic research. The book was recently presented at the Embassy of Australia in Athens, in the presence of Ambassador Jeremy Newman, Deputy Education Minister and responsible for issues regarding the education of expatriates Fofi Gennimata, MP of Greek descent Maria Vamvakinou, former Special Secretary for Educational Planning, Education of Expatriated Greeks and Intercultural Education at the Greek Ministry of Education, Thalia Dragona and the writer.

The book is a detailed reflection of the wider social, historical and educational net of ethnic schools that are, as the writer notes, an important ethnicity index and play an important role in the transmission and the promotion of Greek culture in Australia.
