Terror link probed in navy explosives theft, 3 arrested

Greece’s navy and police anti-terrorism department says three people have been arrested over the theft of explosives from two navy minesweepers.
The arrests of the 29-year-old junior naval officer and two Greek civilians, aged 36 and 48, was announced Tuesday after the explosives, described as “sabotage material,” were reported missing on April 6.
A statement said the suspects are facing charges of illegal possession of explosives, possession of proceeds of a crime, and violation of the Greek weapons possession law.
Police said the suspects are being investigated for possible links to Greek militant groups, but gave no further details.
Attacks by armed far-left and anarchist groups are common in Greece, but the theft of explosives from the navy is unusual.
