Greeks Purchase Country Houses in Turkey

The purchase of a house or a country house in Greece is passing its own crisis for a few years now, but the situation is completely different on the other side of Aegean Sea. The purchase of a country house is flourishing in Turkey with the help of Greeks who have bought thousands of country houses in the neighbor country. According to data by the Turkish Cadastral Service for the purchases made in the last four years in Turkey, the Greeks have bought 9.954 country houses, conquering third place after the British and the Germans!
“The Greeks have turned to Turkey because of the lower prices, but also because in the neighbor country the houses are situated in complete residential complexes that offer many services, up to helipads!” explains an estate agent who works in Turkey. The Greeks prefer purchasing houses at the regions of Attala and Halicarnassus, which are connected with Greek coasts.
The question that comes to every Greek mind when hearing the above is: ”Why can’t we do the same in our own country?”
The answer comes from the consultant of the Greek Russian Chamber, Antonis Kollaros: “The country misses special spatial planning for the tourism and furthermore, the unclear delineating of the lands at the coastal space do not permit the construction of complete residential complexes in Greece like the ones in Turkey”…
