Vergina Sun Illegally Featured in FYROM University Degrees

When the graduates of the state university of Stip, in FYROM, get their degrees, they can see a Greek symbol on them, which their country has been bounded not to use since 1994.  That Greek symbol is the famous Vergina Sun which was also cut out from the country’s flag in 1994. The private local television channel “A1” has revealed that the Greek symbol is depicted in the four corners of the degree.  In addition, they commented on this action, saying that it could really harm their country-especially now that the resort of FYROM against Greece in the International Court of Hague is in the last phase.

The Prime Minister of FYROM, Nicola Grouefski, states complete ignorance about the issue. “This is the first time I hear such a thing”, he said, and he added, “By no means the  government decided such thing. If the statement is real, then probably the university took the decision on its own”.

From their part, the university’s representative, confirmed the dean’s decision to use the Greek star with the 16 radii, which they said can also be found in the image of Mother Virgin in the church of the town.

The FYROM Minister of Education, Nicola Todorof, also claimed ignorance about the fact and promised to examine the whole issue with university authorities.
