Greek Member of Swiss Parliament Creates Vineyard in Patmos!

Aiming at breaking the tourism mono-cultivation in Patmos, Josef Zisyadis, a Greek member of Swiss Parliament, will proceed with an ambitious agro-ecological plan. The project, which is called “Patinos”, will start in Petra of Patmos.  It will last from the 26th until the 29th of March. Since 1986, Joseph Zisiadis goes to Patmos on holidays almost every year. He is a member of the Swiss Parliament and he has served as Minister of Justice, Police and Military Affairs in the canton of Vaud. He was born in Istanbul to a Greek father and Jewish mother, but he supports the fights of Palestinians. He used to live in Athens.  When he was six his family moved to Switzerland. Although he used to be a pastor of the Evangelical Missionary of France, he supports the political left. In a land of 30 m2, Joseph Zisiadis and other Swiss citizens will create a vineyard in Patmos with local grape varieties, an oil-press, a wine school and a seed bank. It is estimated that this investment will cost about 500,000 Euros.
