90 Young Diaspora Greeks to Participate in Cultural Program, Greece

Ninety young people of Greek descent, between 15 and 17-years-old, from all continents, will visit Greece.  They will participate in a program of  The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad (“GGAE”) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from the 25th of July until the 7th of August. The aim of the program, which awards students with good school records and who are particularly interested in Greek language and culture, is to support their Greek cultural identity and to introduce them to contemporary Greece. The program aims at giving the chance to young Greeks to make new friends from different countries, but of a common cultural descent, and from Greece as well. The program includes educational courses, Greek dance and song classes and participation in cultural events and activities. It also includes visits to historical and archaeological sites, museums and other places of interest all over Greece (Athens, Delphi, Galaksidi, Naupactus, Naphplio, Epidaurus, Mycenes, Sounion, Aigina, Aphaia, Sparta, Gytheio, Dyros Caves). Parents of those interested in the program have to contact the Greek Diplomatic Authority of their area and submit an application for the participation of their children. The last submission day is the 30th of March, 2011. All expenses are covered by the “GGAE”.
