Panagiotis Psomiadis, head of the region of Central Macedonia, sent a letter to Prime Minister George Papandreou. His letter asks the Prime Minister to intervene so that the Consulate General of the U.S.A. can remain in Thessaloniki. Mr. Psomiadis, who sent a similar letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitris Droutsas, underlines that in case the U.S.A. Consulate is no longer located in Thessaloniki, that would lead to the degradation of the city. He added that the capital of Macedonia would lose an important part of its role in the area of Balkans.
