The year 2014 has been announced as the Year of El Greco, on the occasion of the 400 year anniversary since the death of the great Greek painter, by decision of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Paul Geroulanos.
Throughout the year a series of events will be held by supervised bodies of the Ministry of Tourism. Towards this end an Organizational Committee comprised of seven members has been established, which will be in charge of the final program.
The committee members are: Lina Mendoni, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Chairperson), Marina Lambraki Plaka, director of the Alexander Soutzos National Art Gallery – Museum, Angelos Delivorias, Director of Benakis Museum, Nikolaos Stambolidis, Director of the Cycladic Art Museum, Eugenia Chalkia, Director of the Byzantine and Christian Museum, Dennis Zacharopoulos, Art Director of the Macedonian Museum of Modern Art, Nicholaos Hadjinikolaou, honorary member of Mesogeia Institute.
