According to the newspaper “Νew Zurcher Zeitung”, the Swiss tourism to Greece is not influenced by the strikes. The journalists underline that the most important travel agencies in Switzerland do not worry about the news coming from Greece.
“Our clients understand the situation in Greece” says Andrea Mueller from the Kuoni company. In the spring, when everyone talked about the bankruptcy of Greece and there were the first strikes , we had a small drop in the demand for the Greek destinations but now the bookings are in the same level as in 2009.
Prisca Huguenin of Hotelplan says that Greece is still one of the five most popular destinations for the Swiss.
She also says that in a 4stars hotel in Greece anyone can find better service than in a same hotel in Italy. As it comes to the confusion because of the strikes, the clients of the Swiss travel agencies are early informed for the flight delays, although the most strikes are in Athens when the most flights from Switzerland are direct for the Greek islands.
The travel agencies say that the Greeks try much harder now in order to serve the tourists and to offset the bad news for their country.
The travel packages from Switzerland to Greece are cheaper this year (up to 15%), because of the slide of euro against the Swiss franc.
