Public lectures on the Greek antiquity

Two public lectures on the Greek antiquity, will be carried out in the framework of a Public lecture program of the University of Melbourne, on Wednesday, the 11th of August and on Wednesday, the 1st of September.
The first lecture, the title of which is “The shaft graves of Mycenae: From Sleeman to Homer and reversely”, will be conducted by the Professor of Archeology, mr. Robert Laffineur from the University of Liege. Professor Laffineur is the head of the Department of Art History and Ancient Greek History of the Belgian Institute and he is in Australia as a visitor to the University of Melbourne.

The second lecture, the title of which is “Cyprus in the 4th century BC”, will be conducted by Dr. Thomas Davis, manager of the Cypriot- American Institute of Archeology that is located in Nicosia. Dr. Davis will visit Australia under the help of  the Australian Institute of Archeology of La Trobe University.

Both lectures will take place in David Caro, and more specifically, in the Hercus Theatre which is located in the University of Melbourne. The lectures begin at 18.30 and there is a free entrance.
