Greeke ex-boxer jailed over threats, blackmail

melbourneAN ex-boxer who held a sex worker captive for 40 hours over a drug debt has been jailed for four years.
The Victorian County Court heard Tolli Spiliopoulos, 45, was involved in blackmails where he terrorised people for money during 2006.
One of his three victims was his sex worker girlfriend, to whom he lied that he had been shot and was on bail for murder.
Spiliopoulos began threatening her after believing her flatmate stole his bag containing cocaine.
He stood over her for payment of the drugs, causing her to move house in fear for her safety.
At one stage she was falsely imprisoned by Spiliopoulos and his associates for 40 hours.
Spiliopoulos, of suburban Prahran, also blackmailed two other victims.
At the time of his crimes he was using ice and cocaine.
Judge John Smallwood said his offending was serious and jailed him for a minimum of 18 months.
“I have no doubts the victims were terrified of you,” he said.
Spiliopoulos pleaded guilty to three counts of blackmail, two of false imprisonment and one count of theft.
The court heard he was brain damaged by drugs and possibly boxing, and had prior convictions including for false imprisonment.
