Jean-Claude Juncker: Greece Faces Severe Political Difficulties

There can be no flexibility for Greece on its budget deficit targets if the country hopes to receive the next tranche of its bailout from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund, the head of Eurogroup Jean-Claude Juncker said Thursday.
In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal, Juncker, also Luxembourg΄s PM, said Athens΄ privatization program was moving too slowly and that Greece΄s political difficulties were “no excuse” for it failing to implement promised measures.
“Greece has to know that the disbursement should not be taken for granted–they have to deliver… I have the impression that things are not moving at the right speed–the results are not there. I do understand the political difficulties the Greek government is facing are very serious–but that΄s not an argument to the outside world,” Juncker, said.
He also said Europe΄s future architecture needs to allow it to react more quickly to developing crises and that could mean changes to the Lisbon Treaty.
