Katie Zacharia praised President Donald Trump in her first social media message after leaving her role as White House press secretary. Her departure came less than a week after she took the job, following a difficult debut and growing scrutiny of her professional background.

In a post on X on Friday evening, Zacharia described Trump as “kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking.” She added that she wished more Americans appreciated him and called it an honor to have worked for him.

Her message followed a turbulent first week in one of the White House’s most visible communications positions.

Zacharia Shares Message of Support for Trump

Zacharia accompanied her message with a photograph of herself standing behind Trump at his desk in the Oval Office. Rather than criticizing the administration after her departure, she reaffirmed her support for the president.

“No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to,” she wrote.

The statement came after Trump publicly questioned whether she should remain in the role. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he said he had encouraged her to reconsider the position, adding that he believed she had been treated unfairly by the media.

The Associated Press reported that Zacharia was transitioning out of the job after a brief and difficult tenure. The White House had not publicly provided a detailed explanation of her departure in the reports reviewed.

A Difficult First Week at the White House

Zacharia’s first official press briefing took place on October 13. She spoke for approximately 14 minutes and took questions from three reporters before ending the session.

The briefing drew criticism over its limited length and her performance at the podium. Her handling of questions about the administration also attracted attention during the following days.

Questions about her professional credentials added to the scrutiny. Zacharia had described herself as a lawyer while working as a conservative media commentator. However, she acknowledged that she had not passed the California bar exam.

She defended her professional background in interviews, arguing that she had not misrepresented her experience. The controversy nevertheless became a major focus of coverage during her brief time in the role.

Before joining the White House, Zacharia worked in communications for Trump Media, the company behind the president’s social media platform, Truth Social. She had also worked as a commentator for conservative media outlets.

Trump Had Urged Her to Reconsider the Job

Trump’s public comments on Friday cast doubt on Zacharia’s future in the position. He told reporters that he thought she had faced unfair treatment and did not need to endure the pressure surrounding the job.

He also indicated that he planned to speak with her again after his weekend travel. Reports subsequently said she was leaving the role.

Zacharia’s departure followed a short period in which her first briefing and questions about her credentials overshadowed her appointment. Her public message, however, made clear that she continued to express strong support for Trump.
