Parents Charged With Murder After Baby Found Stabbed and Frozen in Athens, Greece

New charges have been brought against the parents of the family in the horror flat in the Kypseli area of Athens, Greece, where one baby was found dead and two minors were reportedly diagnosed with STDs earlier this week.

The 38-year-old German mother and the 43-year-old Greek father, who were already arrested on drug charges, have been additionally charged with intentional homicide of a family member, in accomplice, for carrying a weapon and illegal possession of ammunition, in accomplice, as well as for repeated and single false testimony, according to AMNA.

The 26-year-old Afghan man introduced as the partner of the couple’s 15-year-old pregnant daughter has been charged with sexual acts with a minor.

The three suspects were arrested on Monday in connection with the Kypseli flat findings and have been remanded in custody following their statements before the prosecutors in the first part of the case, concerning charges of drug trafficking and failure to report the discovery of a dead infant.

The 43-year-old Greek national, the 38-year-old German national and the 26-year-old Afghan national all denied involvement in drug trafficking.

Shock finding of frozen baby in Athens flat

Police raided the flat in Kypseli following a complaint by the flat manager and found the frozen body of a baby in a jar inside a suitcase as the mother was trying to flee the property with two other boys, aged 9 and 12.

A forensic examination later found that the baby boy, who was 8 or 9 months old at the time of his death, had suffered more than ten stab wounds on his back. Police have since been investigating previous residences of the couple in an effort to determine the time of the crime.

The 43-year-old man is reported to have claimed that he is a drug addict and requested to undergo a relevant examination, while the 38-year-old woman, for her part, is reported to have maintained that she was innocent and that she wanted to keep her dead child with her. The 26-year-old Afghan man has reportedly claimed that he knew nothing about the dead baby.

As new arrest warrants were issued for the three suspects following the new charges, the three adults are expected to be taken back to the Athens court on Thursday to give further statements before the prosecutor.

According to sources, the 43-year-old father is also facing charges in another serious case involving pimping. The case file includes several other people who are accused of serious felonies, including rape and pimping, allegedly committed in 2020 and 2021.
