Greek filmmaker Konstantinos Mousoulis’ comedy Best Friends Forever is continuing its international journey, with the film selected to open the 31st Greek Film Festival in Australia following its Audience Award win at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival earlier this year.
The film, titled Φίλοι για Πάντα in Greek and released internationally as Best Friends Forever, will have its Australian premiere when the festival opens on October 13. The event will bring Greek films, documentaries and special screenings to audiences in Melbourne and Sydney before expanding to other Australian cities.
For Mousoulis, the selection marks another international milestone for his first feature film. Friends Forever received the Audience Award for Feature Film at the 2026 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, where it had its international premiere.
A Greek comedy built around friendship and chaos
Written and directed by Mousoulis, Friends Forever follows a series of interconnected stories revolving around friendship, good intentions and the complications that follow when people try to help those closest to them.
At the center of the film is a wedding that begins to unravel before it even starts. Other storylines involve a seemingly simple favor that turns into a journey to Crete, family tensions and a succession of misunderstandings that bring the characters’ lives together in unexpected ways.
The ensemble cast includes Thanasis Tsaltabasis, Agorasti Arvaniti, Doretta Papadimitriou, Thanasis Alevras, Zisis Roumbos, Matina Nikolaou, Giannis Apergis, Chrysa Michalopoulou, Takis Papamattheou and Greek-Australian actor Louis Mandylor.
Greek Reporter previously reported that Friends Forever marked Mousoulis’ feature-film debut after a career that included 18 short films and filmmaking experience in Greece, the United Kingdom and the United States. Mousoulis spent years working in Los Angeles before returning to Greece to make the comedy.
From Los Angeles to the Greek diaspora in Australia
The Australian premiere gives Friends Forever another significant platform within the global Greek diaspora.
The Greek Film Festival is organized across Australia’s major Greek communities, bringing contemporary Greek cinema to audiences far beyond Greece. This year’s 31st edition is expected to feature more than 45 feature films, documentaries and special events.
By choosing Friends Forever as its opening film, the festival places Mousoulis’ comedy at the center of its opening celebrations.
The choice also follows the film’s warm reception in Los Angeles, where the Audience Award suggested that its distinctly Greek humor and stories about friendship could connect beyond its home audience.
