A Tennessee congressman has claimed that aliens have visited Earth using a craft far more advanced than anything current technology can explain, and that they have interacted with humans. Rep. Tim Burchett said multiple government and military officials briefed him on the existence of extraterrestrial life, and he added that he would take a lie detector test to back up his account.
Burchett said the beings do not appear to pose a threat. He reasoned that any civilization capable of reaching Earth with such advanced technology would have had every opportunity to destroy humanity by now.
He serves on the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, and said he recently received a briefing on the subject that would have seriously unsettled the public if released. Despite that, he said he supports full transparency.
Burchett backs his account with a lie detector offer
Don Donderi, a retired professor from McGill University who has spent decades studying the subject, said extraterrestrial intelligence exists and operates machines that no human institution knows how to build.
He said that no body on Earth, whether a local government or the United Nations, has the technical means to stop extraterrestrials from acting however they choose. He said his conclusions are drawn from scientific analysis, eyewitness accounts, and government-related material collected over many years.

Former President Barack Obama added to the conversation earlier this year when he said he believes extraterrestrial life is real, though he saw no direct evidence during his time in office. He also said such beings were not concealed at Area 51.
President Donald Trump later announced that his administration had begun working to identify and release government files on the topic, while stopping short of saying he personally believed in alien life.
UAP hearings highlight mystery sightings and disputed alien claims
Congress held hearings on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, commonly known as UAP, in 2023 and 2024 following national security concerns and public pressure for answers.
Former military and intelligence officials told lawmakers that the government had recovered unidentified craft and possibly run classified programs to study them, though no confirmed proof of extraterrestrial origin has been made public.
The Pentagon said its records show that military pilots and sensors have logged hundreds of UAP encounters, and that while many cases lack explanation, no alien spacecraft have been verified.
Sean Kirkpatrick, who previously led the Pentagon’s UAP investigation office, dismissed Burchett’s statements and said the real national security concern is adversary nations, not alien visitors.
Vice President JD Vance said last month that some UAPs may have a demonic explanation rather than an extraterrestrial one, and pledged to look further into the matter.
