The Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) has announced that the Flame Lighting Ceremony for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games will take place indoors at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia this Wednesday, November 26th. The decision was made due to forecasted adverse weather conditions over the coming days.
The HOC stated the change was necessary to ensure the safety of all participants and safeguard the dignity and prestige of the ceremony. Due to the severely limited capacity of the museum space, public attendance is no longer possible. Invited guests will be notified individually regarding their right of entry.
The HOC concluded its statement:
“We sincerely regret this change and any inconvenience it may cause. The Hellenic Olympic Committee is making every effort to fully honor the sanctity, tradition, and spirit of the Ceremony, despite the necessary adjustments.”
