Saudi Arabia has introduced the design of its first ultra-luxury train, a major step in its efforts to grow high-end tourism through modern rail travel. The project, titled Dream of the Desert, was revealed during the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, marking a significant advancement in the Kingdom’s push to reshape tourism and transportation under Vision 2030.
The ultra-luxury train is being developed through a partnership between Italy-based Arsenale Group and Saudi Arabia Railways. Government agencies involved include the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, the Transport General Authority, the Ministry of Culture and the Saudi Tourism Authority.

The train is scheduled to begin service in late 2026, with journeys lasting one to two nights. Routes will start in Riyadh and cover approximately 1,300 kilometers (808 miles) using existing rail lines. The experience aims to blend high-end comfort with the natural and cultural beauty of the region.
Train interiors reflect Saudi heritage and craftsmanship
Designed to carry up to 66 guests, the Dream of the Desert will feature 31 private suites and two presidential suites. Interiors will reflect the Saudi landscape through desert-inspired tones, handcrafted wood details and Murano glass lighting shaped to resemble traditional lanterns.
Dining options will include two restaurant cars offering both local cuisine and international dishes with Italian fusion, all curated to meet Michelin-level standards. A central Majlis lounge will serve as a social hub, giving guests a place to relax and connect during the journey.

Transport Minister and Chairman of Saudi Arabia Railways Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said the launch of the luxury train reflects progress in the national railway sector. He explained that the project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to introduce modern, tourism-oriented transport options that improve quality of life.
Saudi Arabia’s ultra-luxury train signals shift in premium travel
Al-Jasser also pointed to the increase in foreign investment in the Kingdom’s transport and logistics industries, supported by global partnerships that are helping bring such high-profile projects to life.
Arsenale Group CEO Paolo Barletta described the train as a blend of Italian craftsmanship and Saudi vision. He said it represents a new platform for luxury travel that values creativity, cultural identity and a deep connection to the local environment.
The Dream of the Desert highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing efforts to appeal to international travelers seeking premium experiences, while reinforcing its position as a destination for cultural and luxury tourism.
