In what is expected to be another record year for Greek tourism in both arrivals and revenues, Americans are emerging as the top spenders of this year’s Greece’s tourist season.

Tourism revenues in the first ten months of 2024 had increased by 5.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023, according to data by the Bank of Greece, reaching 20.93 billion euros ($21.8 billion) up from 19.84 billion euros ($20.66 billion) in 2023.

Moreover, Greece has been trying to extend the tourist season beyond the summer months and based on the latest data, it appears that it’s getting closer to reaching that goal. Off-season revenues were up by 40 percent on the first quarter of the year, with a 19.7 percent increase in October alone.

The latest data also appears to confirm the projections of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, that tourism revenues in 2024 could reach up to 22 billion euros ($22.91 billion).
