Greece qualified for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest grand final on Saturday, May 11th after Marina Satti’s energetic performance of her song “Zari.”
Through Marina Satti, Greece is storming ahead after the semi-final result was determined through televotes. The televote took place during the live broadcast of the show. The 16 participating countries, as well as France, Spain, and Italy, were voting in this semi-final.
The 10 successful qualifiers will join the qualifiers from the first semi-final (held on Tuesday, May 7th) as well as the Big 5 plus reigning Contest champions Sweden in the grand final on Saturday, May 11th.
Earlier in the week, Cyprus also qualified for the finals. Greek Cypriot singer Silia Kapsis performed in the first semi-final round on Tuesday, earning enough votes for her song, “Liar,” to advance to the next stage of the competition.
The Eurovision Song Contest website states that the 10 qualifying acts are now celebrating and will soon be getting ready for the grand final.

Greece’s Eurovision representative Marina Satti’s approach to her upcoming performance emphasizes a continuous take with a music video that tells a compelling story. She aims to showcase Greek values through her presence on the Eurovision stage.
For Eurovision 2024, after a number of submissions were sent her way and after lots of consideration, she finally decided to take âZariâ to Malmo, Sweden. The Eurovision song is a mixture of urban rhythms and ethnic sounds from Greece, as well as other parts of the globe, and it will mark the first time since 2018 that Greece will be represented by a song in Greek.
Marina Satti was born on December 26, 1986 in Athens to a Greek mother and Sudanese father. She was raised on the island of Crete and started learning to play the piano at a young age before learning classical singing in high school.
Satti continued her musical studies at the Nakas Conservatory in Athens and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2016, she released her debut single Koupes (Cups). A year later, she released Mantissa (Fortune Teller), which hit the number-one spot on the Greek singles chart.
Later in 2017, Satti founded Fones, an all-female acapella group that performs traditional polyphonic songs and chores, a choir comprised of 150 women aged 13 to 55. In 2022, she released her debut album YENNA, which was commercially and critically acclaimed.
Marina Satti revealed her song “Zari” during a special evening show hosted by Fotis Sergoulopoulos and Jenny Melita and broadcast on ERT 1, Greeceâs public TV.
