The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, reached an impressive 15,000-point milestone in his career when the Milwaukee Bucks faced the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

Although the Bucks lost to the Rockets, it was indeed a time for celebrations for the 28-year-old Milwaukee star. He has become the first player in the Bucks franchise to score 15,000 points for the team.

Eric Nehm of The Athletic said, “With that bucket, Giannis Antetokounmpo is now the first player in Milwaukee Bucks history to score 15,000 points for the franchise.”

The milestone is noteworthy because the Greek Freak has now scored 15,000 points over 678 regular season games.

Despite being particularly defended, Antetokounmpo succeeded in scoring sixteen points, and his tenth was momentous in reaching the milestone.

During the match, he also finished with eighteen rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks in thirty-seven minutes.

The Greek Freak came into the night averaging 31.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest in twenty-two games (on 54.6 percent shooting from the field).

Giannis Antetokounmpo, greatest Bucks player in history

Giannis’ incredible career is one to admire at such a young age. He is now considered the greatest player in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks franchise.

Signed in 2013, Giannis already has several club records, including being the Bucks’ all-time leading scorer.

He is now the Bucks franchise leader in points, free throws, free throw attempts, defensive rebounds, blocks, turnovers, true shooting percentage, usage percentage, and value over replacement player (VORP).

Other accomplishments for Giannis include being an NBA Champion, two-time MVP, NBA Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and six-time All-Star.

Now in his tenth season in the NBA, Antetokounmpo has career averages of 22.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Antetokounmpo’s carrier is hope for NBA rookies

Given Antetokounmpo’s current career in the NBA, it’s pretty admirable for a guy who only shot seven points per game in his rookie season.

Despite the Greek Freak’s less flashy debut in the NBA, he achieved his latest accomplishment unusually early for the NBA.

In comparison to other NBA stars, only twelve have crossed the bar of 15,000 career points like Giannis. This includes Anthony Davis, who also achieved this milestone on Sunday by scoring thirty-four points against the Pistons.

However, what makes the Greek Freak particularly remarkable in comparison to Davis is that he is younger, as Anthony Davis of the LA Lakers is a bit older at twenty-nine years of age.

In addition, when we look at the careers of players ahead of Giannis in this ranking, we see that few have been as quick to realize this achievement.

Therefore, Antetokounmpo’s success does in fact give hope to all NBA newcomers who might worry that their careers are over after only a single season that did not go as expected.

Currently, the Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference with a 19-7 record in their first twenty-six games.

The Milwaukee Bucks will play their next game on Tuesday night when they face Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in Wisconsin. Hence, we hope to see yet another outstanding performance by the Greek Freak—as is always the case anyway.
