Greece defeated Ukraine in Group C of the EuroBasket with a final score of 99-79. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored forty-one points, a personal best in an international match.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar also pulled down nine rebounds in twenty-seven minutes.

Nick Calathes had thirteen points and seven assists while Tyler Dorsey added another thirteen points during the Greece vs Ukraine Eurobasket game.

After trailing for ten minutes on the fourth day of the competition, Greece outscored its opponents 32-11 in the third period. The Greek Freak and Tyler Dorsey combined for twenty-five of those points.

The team guided by Dimitris Itoudis secured the top spot of Group C.

“When we started the game, we were a bit sloppy…We didn’t have a lot of energy,” Giannis said after the game. “Not to make excuses, but they had a game last night and gave it their all.”

“But we went back at halftime, regrouped as a team, and we went out there in the third quarter…[and] defended well and from our defense, we got a lot of looks on offense,” he added. “I think we did a good job in the second half being focused—playing our game, which is trying to get as many stops as…we can. Offensively, when we move the ball, good things are going to happen.”

On Thursday, Greece will play against Estonia in the final game of the group stage. The national team will move to Berlin for the knock-out stage of EuroBasket 2022.
