Greece Records 571 Intubations, 81 Deaths as Holidays Approach

Although the country has been under a national lockdown for over a month, intubations and deaths due to the coronavirus remain high in Greece.

On Thursday, a total of 81 people died with Covid-19 in the country. There are currently 571 intubated patients with the virus in Greece’s hospitals.

A total of 1,534 new cases were diagnosed in the past day, 23 of which were found during routine testing at Greece’s points of entry.

In total, 121,253 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

Of this total, 5,066 are associated with foreign travel, and 34,181 are associated with contact with a known case.

Of the 571 patients intubated currently, 76.7% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions. Their median age is 66, and 166 of the patients are female.

A total of 697 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country.

The 81 new deaths recorded on Thursday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 3,370. Of all those who lost their lives after suffering from the virus, a total of 1,351 have been female.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79, and 96.0% of them were over the age of 70 or suffered from underlying health issues.
